HAS Announces Strategic Partnership with Airbus for Purchase of Five H175 Helicopters
Hasery Bakar, Managing Director, HAS International Sdn. Bhd. signs the MOU Agreement with Romain Trapp, Executive Vice President Customer Support & Services, Airbus Helicopters
Anaheim, CA, 28 February 2024 – HAS International Sdn. Bhd. (“HAS”), a leading provider of offshore helicopter services in Malaysia, is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus, a global aerospace leader. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in HAS’s commitment to expanding its business offerings and enhancing its capabilities in the region.
Signed at the Helicopter Association International (“HAI”) Heli Expo 2024, under the terms of the MOU, HAS intends to acquire five state-of-the-art H175 helicopters from Airbus. With its outstanding performance and proven reliability, the H175 is the ideal choice for HAS’s expansion plans in the offshore oil and gas industry.
HAS's decision to partner with Airbus was primarily driven by H175's advanced technological features which ensures utmost safety and efficiency for offshore operations as well as its superior operating radius capability. The aircrafts are also certified to fly with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (“SAF”), which is an important factor for HAS as it explores levers to reduce carbon footprint of the company’s operations.
"This continuation of partnership with Airbus attests our commitment to revolutionising offshore helicopter operations - we are leveraging on technology innovation for cost efficiency and better safety margins, and at the same time, collaborating towards aspirational goals of global sustainability with environmentally responsible aviation practices.” said Hasery Bakar, Managing Director of HAS.
He added that the acquisition of these cutting-edge H175 helicopters to the company’s current fleet will not only strengthen HAS’s position in the offshore oil and gas market but also enables it to offer better value to esteemed clients, setting new benchmarks for excellence in the industry.
At the same event, the company was recognised for its attainment of highest-flying hours per month on an Airbus H175 helicopter for offshore oil and gas operations in the South Asian region. The company had also recently celebrated its 3,000-flight hour milestone in H175 operations.
Significantly, these milestones were achieved within the company’s first year of operations in Miri, Sarawak, where it operates for six multinational clients with approximately 45 offshore assets, with the furthest located at 190 nautical miles from its helibase in Miri Airport. Indeed, this accomplishment highlights the operational efficiency, rigorous maintenance practices, and strict adherence to safety protocols that are the hallmarks of HAS's commitment to excellence.
In receiving the recognition for the highest flight hours on the H175 for offshore oil and gas operations in Malaysia, Hasery noted that, “The Airbus H175 has played an integral role in our success, and we are grateful for the unwavering support of our clients, partners, governing authorities, and the entire HAS team."
HAS continues to push boundaries and raise the bar for offshore helicopter operations in Malaysia. With a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, the company aims to remain at the forefront of the industry, consistently delivering exceptional results to clients operating in remote and challenging environments.
